Hi stamping folk! It's Teresa Abajo here to show you what I've made using a new stamp set called Tropical Birds Rubber Stamp Set.
First up is a card using the flamingo stamp:
Step 1
Lightly sponge some Weathered Wood ink in the centre of a 9.5 x 13.8 cm piece of smooth white cardstock. Mask off the top part using a Post It Note and sponge Broken China ink on the bottom part of the card front. This will become the water. Spatter a few droplets of water over the sponged area, then blot dry with some paper towel.
Step 2
(Note: I used a Misti stamp positioning tool for this next step. If you don't own one then you could carefully apply the inks to the stamp then stamp all the colours in one go.)
Apply Pumice Stone ink to the legs and beak of the flamingo and stamp these onto the card front. Wipe the stamp clean, then apply Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink to the feathers of the flamingo and stamp this. Spread the pink around a little using a water brush.
Step 3
Apply Twisted Citron Distress ink to the grass image and stamp onto the card front, carefully lining up so that the centre of the grass lines up with the water line.
Step 4
Wipe the stamp clean then apply Peeled Paint Distress Oxide ink to the stamp in a patchy manner. This allows some of the lighter green to show through the darker green grass.
Step 5
Dry the card front well, then stamp the words using Archival Jet Black ink. Add a few spots of Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew and allow to dry.
Step 6
Mount this onto some black cardstock then onto a 5 x 7 inch kraft card.
Materials used:
Darkroom Door Tropical Birds Rubber Stamp Set
Distress Ink: Weathered Wood, Broken China, Pumice Stone
Distress Oxide Ink: Worn Lipstick, Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint
Archival Jet Black
Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew
Next up is a card using the Toucan stamp. Toucans have black feathers and a wildly colourful bill, which makes the toucan image in this set super quick to colour.
Step 1
Stamp the toucan image using Archival Jet Black ink onto smooth white cardstock. Colour using Ecoline markers and a water brush (or any other colouring medium of your choosing).
Step 2
Stamp the words close to the toucan, then trim down and mat with black cardstock.
Step 3
Stamp the Mesh Background stamp onto a 9.5 x 13.8 cm piece of white cardstock using Archival Jet Black ink. Add some spatters using similar colours to the toucan image. Mat this onto black cardstock, then adhere the toucan image at an angle.
Step 4
Take short scraps of ribbon in colours similar to those used on the toucan and stitch together. Adhere these to the card front using a mini attacher.
Step 5
Adhere the card front to a white card and add a couple of sequins to the bottom right hand corner.
Materials used:
Darkroom Door Tropical Birds Rubber Stamp Set
Darkroom Door Mesh Background Stamp
Archival Jet Black ink
Talens Ecoline Brush markers
Mini Attacher
Scraps of ribbon
Sequins
Thanks for looking and stay crafty!
