Hello stampers! It is Anna-Karin here with you today sharing an art journal page made with the new Time Machine Quote Stamp. This is a wonderful sentiment and it works well for cards, art journaling pages and scrapbooking layouts.
The beautiful sentiment is the focal point of this art journaling page, and I wanted it to be surrounded with a field of wildflowers. The wildflowers from the Nature Walk Stamp Set fitted well with the message of valuing both memories and dreams. Wildflowers also make me think both of visiting my grandmother, where we used to pick a lot of wildflowers, and also of going for walks in nature as an adult. There is something about the beauty and resilience of a wildflower, which makes them very special to me.
I worked in my Small Creative Flip Journal and started out by white embossing the sentiment on the page. It looks nicer if the sentiment isn’t right in the middle of the page, but instead a little to the left or right.
White emboss two of the flowers from the Nature Walk set, bending the stems a little to give them more life and movement. Ink the page with Distress Ink, using an ink-blending tool.
Splatter the page with water droplets to create texture.
Stamp a shadow for the white embossed flowers, by inking the stamp with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink and stamping it a little to the side of the original impression. Use the same stamp with Forget-Me-Not ink to make it look like there are more flowers further away. Stamp a field of grass around the flowers with two shades of green Archival ink. I also used the bird stamp from the African Trees set to stamp birds in the sky.
I just love this sentiment, and it is so true. Another idea would be to use it on a vintage or steampunk page together with, for example, a clock such as the Pocket Watch Eclectic stamp, or perhaps the cool Mr Bright Idea Collage Stamp.
Stamping a shadow gives dimension to the flowers. Don’t worry too much about getting it exactly right.
The Nature Walk set comes with lovely small sentiments and I stamped them here and there on the page.
Stamping a field of grass and wildflowers is such fun, and I like having these types of happy and hopeful pages in my art journal. They make me smile as I look through a journal.

Anna-Karin, your journal page is gorgeous!! I love anything depicting nature & everything about this page appeals to me, from the white embossed images & sentiment to the beautiful colour combinations. Thank you for a good explanation of your process as well. I've not tackled a journal page yet, but I have a small mixed media book & bought some acrylic paints at a Dollar store, so I just need to go for it. I'm hesitant, but it doesn't have to be perfect & it's not like I have to show anyone or send it to anyone like I do when I make a card. Right? Wish me luck...
