Hello Darkroom Door fans! Belinda Spencer here with you today to share a couple of art journal spreads featuring the fabulous new Large Butterflies Stencil. I have created two very different art journal spreads to show you how versatile this two stage stencil is. It is such an easy and fun stencil set to use that I can see myself filling my whole journal with butterflies!
Instructions:
1. Create a colour base in your journal using gesso and acrylic paints. Allow to dry completely.
2. Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the Numbers Border Stamp. Stamp across the centre of both pages. Dry with a heat gun.
3. Place the outer stencil on the pages and sponge on some black gesso to fill the whole butterfly. Allow to dry. Stamp some small butterflies from the Butterflies Rubber Stamp Set as well as tiny stars from the Stars Rubber Stamp Set using the Jet Black ink.
4. Place both the outer and inner stencil back on the page over the black painted butterfly base. Secure with washi tape and mask off any other areas to avoid getting paint in the wrong places. Use a sponge to apply a thicker acrylic paint such as Prima Art Alchemy Impasto Paint. The heavier paint helps to avoid any paint bleeding under the stencil. Allow the paint to dry. Outline the butterfly using a white paint pen to make it really pop from the background.
5. Add some fun pink stars using the Large Starry Night Stencil with the same pink paint as used for the butterfly. Dilute a little of the paint with water and flick across the pages. Allow to dry before adding some white flicks of colour with the paint pen.
6. Finally stamp your sentiment onto white cardstock. Fussy cut and ink the edges with Picked raspberry Distress Ink. Stick down on the art journal pages.

Instructions:
1. Create a colour base in your journal using gesso and acrylic paints. Allow to dry completely.
2. Place the outer stencil on the left hand side and fill in the whole butterfly using the same acrylic paints. Allow to dry.
3. Next nest the inner stencil in the outer one. Secure with washi tape or hold steady with your hands. Apply Black gesso over the stencil using a sponge. Allow to dry.
4. On a separate page in your journal spray Dylusions Black Marble Spray over the same butterfly stencil. Remove the stencil and carefully flip over onto the second page of the 'Follow Your Heart' spread. Place a sheet of scrap paper over the top and smooth over the stencil. Remove the stencil and allow the ink to drip down the page.
5. Spray some of the Dylusions spray onto a craft sheet and gently press a Paint Splat stamp into it swishing around a little to ensure the stamp is covered. Apply to the page and allow the ink to drip. Repeat until you are satisfied with the amount of drippage on your pages.
6. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 using the Small Butterflies Stencil. Allow to dry.
7. Apply stamps from the Simply Circles Rubber Stamp Set to the butterflies bodies using Jet Black Archival Ink. Dry with a heat gun. Use a white paint pen to highlight the words and/or shapes and doodle some messy rings around the stamped images.
8. Dilute some of the acrylic paints used on the background and flick some colour across the spread. Also use a soft wet paintbrush to add some drippage in the paint colours. Allow to dry.
9. Stamp the sentiment onto smooth white cardstock using the Jet Black ink. Fussy cut and stick down on the art journal pages.
