Watercolour Resist Wedding Card

Darkroom Door - Wednesday, March 27, 2019

Hi there! It’s Rachel Greig here today, sharing a wedding card created with the Hearts Border Stamp and Wedding Sentiments Stamp. I wanted to create a soft watercolour resist effect over the hearts and I think it’s a fun technique to use with these stamps!

Instructions:
1. Stamp the Hearts Border Stamp onto hot press watercolour paper using Distress Embossing ink and emboss with clear embossing powder.
2. Swipe your preferred colour choice of Make Art ink pads or Distress Ink pads onto an acrylic block and pick up the ink with a water brush to colour over the hearts. The embossed image will resist the ink. Repeat until the entire stamped image is covered in watercolour.
3. Distress the edges of the watercolour paper with a paper distresser. Wrap white sheer ribbon around the bottom and tie in a bow at the front. Adhere panel to folded white card.
4. Stamp the Wedding Sentiment Stamp onto hot press watercolour paper using Watering Can Make Art ink pad. Distress the edges of the watercolour paper with a paper distresser and adhere to right side of the card using foam adhesive.

Distress Ink: Picked Raspberry
Make Art Ink: Red Geranium, Watering Can
Paper Distresser

While I had the Border Stamps out, I made a quick card using the Leaves Border Stamp:

This card took only a couple of minutes. I stamped the quote from the Friendship Flowers Stamp Set in the centre of a 15cm x 15cm (6”x6”) card using Archival Jet Black ink. Then stamped the Leaves Border either side using Archival Olive ink pad. Super quick but looks great!

Supplies used:
Darkroom Door Leaves Border Stamp

Archival Ink: Jet Black, Olive

Then I stamped the Flower Bed Border Stamp in my traveler’s notebook:

I used it to create a border down the right side of a page. I stamped it with Archival Jet Black ink, then coloured with pencils. I used these woodless pencils. They look vibrant, but create soft tones when colouring. It was easy to do and really adds a nice border into your journals.

I hope you‘ve enjoyed these ideas! The Border Stamps are almost 12” in length, so they can be used for scrapbook pages and large journals, along with smaller projects like these ones!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
