Guest Artist - Jowlina Nolte Part 2

Darkroom Door - Friday, June 24, 2011

We have some fabulous projects to share with you today from our Guest Artist Jowilna Nolte... take a look at these:

Art De Fleur Notebook:

Details from Jowilna:
For this little notebook i used a combination of the Art de Fleur stamps, filmstrips and wordstrips. The image was stamped in black versafine ink on plain white cardstock and inked around the edges using Frayed Burlap Distress ink. I then covered the entire image with a thin lace like japanese paper using gel medium. Once the gel medium was dry I spritzed the image using heirloom gold perfect pearl mist. The image was trimmed to size, matted onto pink cardstock and then adhered to the front of the notebook. For the filmstrip on the left I cut a piece long enough to run the length. I then added some art de fleur images to the filmstrip. The images were sanded around the edges and the centre image was raised using foam strips and glazed with glossy accents. I finished off the notebook using a word and some pretty ribbon. The notebook was made from scratch using pretty floral scrapbooking paper. A nice gift for mothers day or a special friend.
Products used for this project:
Art de Fleur stamps, filmstrips and word strips.

Full Of Wonder layout:

Details from Jowilna:
For this layout I used the alphastrips to create a pretty corner on my enlarged photo. I love how words and letters change the look of a project into something special, and these alphastrips are really very versatile. I cut the strips the length I required and lightly sanded the edges before inking them with creamy brown chalk ink. The stamped sentiment from the art de fleur vol 2 set was stamped in white stazon ink and left to air dry really well. Once dry I used a combination of scattered straw, broken china and frayed burlap distress ink to add colour. The white ink resists the ink and forms a really beautiful effect. Some quick and easy ideas to spruce up your scrapbooking into something special. Remember that you don’t always have to re-invent the wheel – adding technique in small unexpected ways often makes for a stunning project.
Products used in this project: Alpha strips and Art de fleur vol 2 stamp.

Guest Artist - Connie Mercer Part 4

Darkroom Door - Friday, June 03, 2011

Today we're sharing some layouts from Guest Artist Connie Mercer! She's created 5 pages using a variety of Darkroom Door products. Check them out:

On this layout I used the Art De Fleur Filmstrip as a border to the photos.  Added the perfect color to the page. Also punched out some butterflies from the Art De Fleur Montage. The base papers are San Marco and Blush. The word is from Art De Fleur Wordstrips.

This is one of my favorites. I cut the Robot Filmstrip into triangles and made a banner out of it.  Then I used the rest of it to make a mitered frame.  Just perfect for this "little" guys photos. Also used Robot Stripe and Dots paper, and the Robot Journal paper for the journaling block and yellow star stripe. Robot Wordstrips and Black Alphastrips were used for the title.

On this layout I cut the Venetian Filmstrip down the middle and using at the top and bottom of my photos, it added a nice border for the photos. Papers are San Marco and Esplori for the background, the rosette was created from Robot Stripe and Robot Dots paper. Used more Black Alpahstrips for the title, and cut a piece of Prague Photochip for an embellishment.

I used the Robot and Venetian word strips on this one and the cool Robots, Robot Dots and Meadow papers. The papers were perfect for these photos!!

This is my favorite layout!! I loved how my dad made all those "old timers" smile!!!  Love the Photobooth products~ all of them. They were cut out and placed onto the Blank Filmstrip. Also used Legato and Music Journal papers, punched shapes out of Art De Fleur Montage, and the title was created with Black Alphastrips!

Phew - what an amazing assortment of scrapbook pages! Thanks so much for sharing these with us Connie!

If you think that's it... think again! Connie has one last lot of projects to share with us tomorrow... be sure to stop by for the finale!

Let’s say you’re invited to come into our darkroom for a day. What would you bring with you?  Lots of photos, lots of double sided tape and a fresh and focused brain. Ready to absorb and play :)

We're so pleased to have Sharmaine as our latest Guest Artist!! Sharmaine has created a bunch of scrapbook layouts using a variety of Darkroom Door goodies. Here's her first project...

Lesson #1058
As soon as I saw the Big Number stamps I knew I wanted to use them on this page. This layout is a life lesson that our DD#2 learnt recently and I wanted to create a page so she would remember to do it often. The pattern paper background is one of my favourites, San Marco, and I used some of the Robot Dots paper as the background for the Butterfly stamp. The other stamp, that I used on this page, was the lace border (another favourite) from the Little Dreams stamp set, that I heat embossed. I used some alphas, cut from the Red Alphastrip to put a ‘pull’ on the journal tag and the other Darkroom Door product, on this page, is a Venetian Wordstrip, which I used a border punch on, which was perfectly relevant to the page :)

Louise’s Wedding Bouquet
November saw the wedding of my Brother In Law and I was soooo happy to see that my new Sister In Law had a bunch of Lily’s as her bouquet. She must have known I had a packet of Viva La Flora photochips!! And that, of course, meant that the Viva La Flora Vol. 2 filmstrip was also going to work really well on the page. Seems my new Sister In Law has already scored some big points in my scrappy world ;)

Zoom Zoom
I just love the bold, bright colours of the Robots Montage and wondered what I could create to showcase these. Teamed with the Esplori pattern paper, journal stamp, date stamp and the bottom of a filmstrip I found a way!! A memory captured. The day our DD#4 made a airplane with all the crew and spent all day playing with it, yep a memory captured!

Funny Photo
I just adore the Photobooth products and the Photography stamps. I was so happy that I pulled together a page that used both of these products. The other product on this page is some cut up filmstrip (I just love to cut product up and use little bits here and there)

Christmas Pageant 2010
We love to go to our local Christmas Pageant. The gorgeous green of the Meadow Pattern Paper worked perfectly with the Christmas page. I used the Big Number stamps and finished off the page with some Yuletide Montage pictures. I think the montage images would also be cool laminated and turned into bookmarks, as would the robots!!

Thanks so much for sharing these with us Sharmaine and being a Guest Artist for Darkroom Door! We love how you have combined all different elements on your pages to preserve your memories!
