Ravishing Red Valentines Cards

Darkroom Door - Sunday, February 13, 2011

Sarah has created two fabulous Valentines cards... just in case you needed any last minute inspiration!!

Here's a closer look:

Card 1 - "Happy Valentine's Day"

Stamps used: Wildflowers Vol 2, All Occasions.
Ink: Distress Embossing Ink.

Info from Sarah:

For this card I went with a simplistic design. I inked up the wildflower stamp with black ink, and then used a baby wipe to remove the ink from the flowers, leaving just the stems and leaves with ink. I then stamped it onto the Kraft cardstock. I punched 3 hearts out of bazzill cardstock, and glued them to the top of the stems.

I stamped "Happy Valentine's Day" with TH Embossing Ink and embossed it with Pewter embossing powder.

I inked around the edge of the kraft cardstock with black ink and adhered it to a red bazzill cardstock base.

Here's another one (how cool do these staples look!):

Card #2 - "I Love You"

Stamps used: Criss Cross Background stamp, All Occasions stamp set.
Ink: Distress Embossing Ink.

Info from Sarah:

For this card I wanted something a little more edgy, so I used the same colour combo, but took it to the next level. First I stamped the Criss Cross background onto the Kraft cardstock with embossing ink, and embossed with Pewter embossing powder. I then inked around the edge with black ink.

I then cut a heart out of chipboard (I used a grungeboard negative shape as a template) and inked it all over with embossing ink and embossed with red embossing powder. While it was still hot, I stamped "I Love You" over the top of it with silver ink. I then inked around the edges with black ink.

I glued the heart to the bottom right hand corner of the background, and added some staples to the sides.

I tore out a piece of the background at the top left hand corner, inked the edges with black ink, and adhered a piece of red cardstock behind the tear. I then added staples to each side of the tear.

Lastly, I added some screw brads to the corners, and adhered the background to the red bazzill base card.

These are great Sarah!!

Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Valentine Heart

Darkroom Door - Friday, February 11, 2011

Godelieve has created a gorgeous hanging heart for Valentine's Day...

Here's some notes from Godelieve on how she created it:

- I cut a heart from a piece of acetate and embossed it with Tim Holtz embossing folder 'Rays"
- I colored a piece of smooth cardstock with Distress Inks and a blending tool.  After I stamped the Flourish Background on it I cut a heart shape, a little larger than the acetate heart.
- The layers are kept together with Tim Holtz mini staples
- The heart is decorated with a Photobooth couple, a stamped rose, Tim Holtz Game Spinner, and a stamped sentiment from the All Occasions set.
- I glued a paper doily to the back.

Isn't it beautiful!! Thanks for sharing this with us Godelieve!!

When Michelle emailed through these cards to show how she'd used the Noël stamp set, they literally took my breath away! These are SO gorgeous!!!

Notes from Michelle:
I stamped the backgrounds with the Splatter stamp and then added the corners from the Noel set. On a separate sheet of card I stamped the decoration stamps and coloured the backgrounds using a Ranger Ink Blending Tool. Finished each card with Kindy Glitz and lace.

These cards are so bright and cheery - perfect for Christmas!

Here's a couple of ATC's:

The background is stamped with French Script & Dots background stamps then the tree stamp is stamped over the top. I used the edge of the acrylic block and dunked them into the ink and stamped directly onto the edges of the ATC.

The background is stamped with blue ink and Floral background stamp and random parts with the Dots & French Script although these dont seem to of shown up in the final image. The edges of the ATC were done using the acrylic block again. Added some Photobooth images and Paris Vol 2 Wordstrip.

Here's a fun concertina book created with the Home Sweet Home stamps and some fun quotes:

Home Sweet Home stamps
Music Journal 12x12 paper
Red cardstock
Markers (red, brown)
Ladies (printed from Internet)
Excerpt from Desperate Housewives printed on white paper

  • Colour house stamps with markers and stamp on Music Journal paper
  • Attach second largest house to cardstock and then cut out leaving a border and uncut edge
  • Fold cardstock in four using the house as a guide. Cut out continuing to leave one edge uncut to form booklet
  • Randomly stamp house sayings on the background of booklet
  • Glue houses, people and excerpt on pages
