April ATC Swap Theme - Quote Stamps

Darkroom Door - Wednesday, April 01, 2015

The theme for the April Darkroom Door Artist Trading Card swap is Quote Stamps!

Darkroom Door Quote Stamps are the perfect size for ATC's! Use one of these stamps in your ATC this month. You can combine it with other Darkroom Door stamps, embellishments and use any technique or stamping medium. Click here to see all Darkroom Door Quote Stamps!

Here are a couple of ATC's to get you inspired. This first one, by Susie Campbell, is an interactive ATC that opens like a little book. This is what it looks like closed up with fabric:

Then when you open it, you see the Dance Quote Stamp along with clever use of the Carved Flowers Rubber Stamps (turned into an umbrella!!) and Photobooth images.

Great minds think alike as Belinda Spencer has created her ATC using the same Dance Quote Stamp! Belinda's ATC is also interactive as you can lift up the vellum sheet to reveal the Trees Photo Stamp underneath. I love how Belinda has embossed some droplets onto the vellum over the quote to make it look like rain:

December: No swap this month

What to create:
10 ATC's for 9 in return. The 10th ATC will be kept in the Darkroom Door ATC Collection.

How to send them in:
If possible, try to send your ATC's in one of the trading card sleeves that hold 9 ATC's or similar.
It's just a lot easier if they are in some type of sleeve system so I can see the whole collection easily, and it makes it a lot easier to sort. The ATC in the top left corner will remain there as yours, the rest will be swapped with others in the swap. Check out our ATC supplies here.

Due Date:
Please refer to the list above for the closing date of each swap.

What are ATC's?
If you've never created ATC's before - Wikipedia has a description here

Do you need to sign up?
No, there's no need to email us if you're going to take part. Just have your swap in by the due date and you'll be in the swap!

How long will it take before you receive the completed ATC's?
I like to have the ATC's swapped within 2 weeks of the closing deadline. However this can change depending on my travelling schedule. Please allow 4-6 weeks for return of your ATC's, especially if you are international.

Address to send your swap:
Darkroom Door *insert swap name here* Swap
PO Box 8039
Tumbi Umbi NSW 2261
Australia

Please note:
* Please remember to write your details on the back of each ATC: Name, email, edition number (1/10, 2/10 etc), and that it was created for the Darkroom Door swap!

* Everyone's swap pieces will be made into a gallery and will be available for viewing on the Darkroom Door blog after the swap is completed.

* Australian swappers: Please include an addressed and stamped return envelope or satchel with your swap. As some ATC's can be quite thick and bulky, especially as some of our themes this year are textured - please use a medium to large envelope to ensure the ATC's fit in.

* International Swappers: You can pay for your return postage via paypal. Please submit a $3.50 AUD payment to: orders@darkroomdoor.com

* Please allow enough time for your swap parcel to arrive here in time!! International players should have their parcels sent two weeks before the due date.

If you have any questions or need any further information, please email us at info@darkroomdoor.com and we'll respond as soon as possible!

Check out some of our past ATC Swap Galleries on our Pinterest Board. We also have many video galleries on our YouTube channel.

Thanks for your continued interest in our ATC swaps!! We LOVE seeing what you create and look forward to seeing what you all come up with in the future :):)

Bleach Stamped ATC

Darkroom Door - Wednesday, September 24, 2014

Hi! Belinda here today to share with you my bleach stamped ATC for the Darkroom Door 'Bleached Stamping" ATC swap combining different rubber stamp sets with inking, scrunching and distressing.

Instructions:

1. Take a 12” x 12” sheet of white cardstock and apply various Tim Holtz Distress Inks with an ink blending tool ensuring that you blend the colours into each other. I have used Mustard Seed, Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves.

2. Sprinkle water over the top with your fingertips and then dry with a heat gun. This will help the colours blend together as well as give a lovely, water stained effect.

3. Cut the sheet into ATC size pieces and add more ink to them until you have the depth of colour required.

4. Using Watering Can Ranger Archival Ink, apply the dandelion stamp from the Bold Blossoms Rubber Stamp Set, twice to your atc. Also add some grass at the bottom of the piece using a stamp from the Brush Strokes Rubber Stamp Set.

5. Now you are ready to bleach stamp. Add approximately 4 sheets of paper towel to a ceramic/glass dish (one dedicated to using in your craft area and not for eating from!) Carefully pour on a little bleach so that your paper towel is soaked but not swimming in it. You may like to wear an apron for this to avoid any splashes of bleach on your clothes. Press the dandelion stamp into the bleach soaked paper towel and then stamp onto your atc. As it dries you will notice the image appearing. So fun! Add some hearts and ‘xo’ from the Hearts Rubber Stamp Set too.

6. Use a stencil to apply some Silver Viva Décor Glitter Paste around the edges of the piece and allow to dry. Add a sentiment from the Bold Blossoms Rubber Stamp Set.

7. Using Jet Black Ranger Archival Ink, apply a heart stamp from the Hearts Rubber Stamp Set onto a piece of transparency. Once dry, cut it out and staple onto the front of your stamped, inked piece. Tie some string around this piece too.

8. Layer this piece onto some crumpled book paper and then onto your atc base.

Supplies used:

Darkroom Door Brush Strokes Rubber Stamp Set
Darkroom Door Bold Blossoms Rubber Stamp Set
Darkroom Door Hearts Rubber Stamp Set
Darkroom Door Artist Rubber Stamp Set
Viva Decor Glitter Paste 902 Silver
Ranger Archival Ink: Jet Black, Watering Can
Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Mustard Seed, Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves

Thankyou so much for stopping by the blog and checking out my ATC today.

Cheers
