Star Set Small Stencil Ideas

Darkroom Door - Friday, November 01, 2019

Hi there! Today we are sharing lots of different ways to use the new Star Set Stencil!

This stencil set consists of a star shape stencil and the matching solid shape which can be used as a mask and in lots of other ways. We have lots of projects to share with you showing how this stencil set can be used!

Belinda has used the Star stencil to create stars for her journal page and traced around them with a water soluble pencil. Belinda has lots of extra photos and close ups on her blog to show all the details, it’s a wonderful project, you can check it out here.

Here are some card ideas by Godelieve:

Godelieve used Distress Oxide Sprays  over the star solid shape to create one background and then pressed the inked up star shape onto another card front. A great way to create two cards from one inking! You can read more about it here on Godelieve’s blog.

For this card, Godelieve created a layered show star, by sponging two different colours of Distress Oxide Inks and slightly offsetting the stencil to reveal both colours. A great way to ad more depth to the stencil! Godelieve also used the Starry Night stencil for the background. Read more about this card here.

Another beautiful card by Godelieve, this time using Pure Shine Dylusions Shimmer Spray over the solid star stencil, and then the Christmas Script Texture Stamp is stamped over the top with Thistle Archival Ink. A warm and pretty effect! Read more about how Godelieve created this card here.

Next we have some ideas from Connie:

Connie has created a wonderful set of star ornaments using the stencil as a template to cut from and for spraying shimmer sprays through. Its a fabulous way to create unique ornaments for your tree! Connie has also used the Star Set Stencil in this art journal page below. See how Connie created these projects here.

Next we have some beautiful projects by Suzz:

Suzz has used the star stencil on fabric with embossing paste! It created such a beautiful texture! Suzz also used a variety of gold, brown and ivory ink sprays to add colour to the linen. Here’s another card using the star stencil on linen fabric:

Suzz has used hessian/burlap behind the linen to give it even more texture and used the Sheet Music Texture Stamp and Christmas Reindeer stamps to stamp around the star.

For these new few cards, Suzz has sponged yellow ink through the star stencil on white backgrounds and added stamping with Cobalt ink.

Suzz used the Sunshine stencil over the star stencil to sponge big sun rays over the star. A great idea!!

This card has a fun mail art theme with the use of the postage marks from the Christmas Reindeer stamp set

These are some beautiful card ideas from Suzz and to read the full detailed instruction for each card, please visit Suzz’s blog here.

One last card idea from Rachel using the star stencil with Distress Inks and overlaying them side by side to create two stars. You can put the mask stencil over a sponged star while you use the open star stencil to sponge through to create your second star. Very quick card and easy to create a lot for Christmas! The sentiment is from the Stitched Christmas Stamp Set
