Distress Oxide Quote Tags

Darkroom Door - Tuesday, November 14, 2017

Hi there! It's Rachel Greig here today sharing two tags created with Distress Oxide inks and Quote Stamps. These are quick and fun to make and once you start playing with the inks, it's very hard to stop!

Here's a look at the first tag:

The background was created by swiping a few different colours of Distress Oxide ink onto a non-stick craft sheet, misting the ink with water and swiping the tag through the ink. The inks I used were: Broken China, Seedless Preserves, Fossilized Amber and Peeled Paint. Dry the tag with a heat tool and repeat to add several layers of ink of desired. Mist some water into your hands and flick onto the tag and allow to sit for a moment before patting dry with a paper towel. The water will react with the ink and lighten the ink in the areas where it has connected with the water.

Once your background is complete, stamp the Artist Quote stamp over the top with Archival Jet Black ink. Stamp various Paint Splats stamps around the edges using matching Distress Oxide inks.

Colour some satin seam binding with the same Oxide ink colours and allow to dry. Tie through the tag hole to complete!

Here's another tag created in the same way, but using different Distress Oxide ink colours:

This time I have used Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, Broken China and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide inks for the background, and stamped the Wonderful Quote Stamp on top. I've stitched some crumpled sheet music to the bottom to add some extra texture.

With over 24 different Distress Oxide ink colours available, you can create so many different colour combinations for your backgrounds! I've also found the Distress Mixed Media Tags are a fabulous surface to work on with the Distress Oxides! The best part is to just experiment and have fun!
