Vintage Handwriting Card

Darkroom Door - Friday, June 15, 2018
Hello there friends, it's Rachel Greig here today with a simple vintage style card using the Handwriting Rubber Stamp Set

This set has a few different elements that can be used in a variety of ways:

- Use the large handwriting stamp as a background, or press into some thick embossing powder or texture paste to create raised texture.
- Stamp the pen and postmarks inside journals, planners and notebooks to add a vintage touch!
- Create a border by stamping the pen repeatedly in different heights.
- Stamp onto envelopes and make your own mail art
- Curl the handwriting background so you only stamp a small section if you just want to add small details to your backgrounds or projects

These are just a couple of ideas to get you started! Here's a card using all of the stamps in the set together:

Instructions:
1. Stamp the large handwriting stamp onto light kraft cardstock with Archival Jet Black ink pad. Stamp the postmarks over the top using Archival Red Geranium ink pad.
2. Sponge around the edges of the card stock with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Adhere panel to folded black card.
3. Stamp the calligraphy pen 3 times onto light kraft card stock. Trim around each pen and edge with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Adhere to card as shown. Trim off any overhanging bits at the bottom.

Tea Stained Grevilleas Card Set

Darkroom Door - Wednesday, June 13, 2018
Hello Darkroom Door fans! Belinda Spencer here with you today to share a sweet card set featuring the fabulous new Grevilleas Rubber Stamp Set. These stamps are so gorgeous and absolutely perfect for cards, tags, atcs, art journal pages as well as layout backgrounds. I have created three cards in this set featuring stamping on tea stained sticky back canvas.

Instructions:
1. Cut a piece of kraft cardstock measuring 12.5cm x 18cm. Fold in half to create the card base.
2. Cut a piece of white cardstock measuring 8.5cm x 12cm.
3. Cut a piece of sticky back canvas measuring 8cm x 11.5cm. Make up a strong brew of tea. I used 3 tea bags in about 1½ to 2 cups of boiling water. Let it sit until cold. Dip the sticky back canvas in and remove. Repeat until you are happy with the depth of colour. Set aside to dry completely.
4. Apply a grevillea and leaves from the Grevilleas Rubber Stamp Set onto the sticky back canvas using Jet Black Ranger Archival Ink. Allow the ink to dry. Place the Sunshine Small Stencil on the piece and use an ink blending tool to apply Antique Linen ink to create a sun on the canvas.
5. Use a black journaling pen (be careful to choose one that won’t bleed into the canvas) to draw a freehand border around the edge of the canvas. Stick down on the white cardstock piece from Step 2.
6. Stamp the sentiments on smooth white cardstock using the Jet Black ink. Cut out and add to the card front. Tie a bow using a piece of natural jute. Add this piece to the card base using 3D foam for extra dimension.

Here are two more cards I created in the same style:

Supplies used:
Darkroom Door Grevilleas Rubber Stamp Set
Darkroom Door Brushed Sentiments Rubber Stamp Set
Darkroom Door Happy Birthday Rubber Stamp Set

Stuffed Garden Birds

Darkroom Door - Monday, June 11, 2018
Hi, it's Godelieve Tijskens here today with another project using the Garden Birds Rubber Stamp Set. This time I have created some stuffed birds that you could use as an ornament to hang in your home or even on a Christmas tree.

To create these cute stuffed birds I recycled a piece of brown packaging paper. Here they are sitting together on a branch.

I applied gesso here and there to the packaging paper using a plastic card. I Sponged Archival Ink Aquamarine through the small Circles stencil. The birds were stamped with black Archival ink.

I machine stitched two layers together, leaving a small opening to stuff the birds with fiberfill. I closed the opening and cut the birds out.

Supplies used:
Darkroom Door Stamp Set: Garden Birds
Darkroom Door Small Stencil: Circles
Gesso
Archival Inkpads: Jet Black, Aquamarine
Fiberfill
Sewing Machine

They are so fun to make! Thanks again for stopping by.

Grevilleas Card Set

Darkroom Door - Wednesday, June 06, 2018
Hello Darkroom Door fans! Belinda Spencer here with you today to share a sweet card set featuring the fabulous new Grevilleas Rubber Stamp Set. These stamps are so gorgeous and absolutely perfect for cards, tags, atcs, art journal pages as well as layout backgrounds.

I have created two cards in this set and because I love fussy cutting, each stamped image has been intricately cut out to create the most beautiful embellishments for my cards.

Instructions:
1. Cut a piece of kraft cardstock measuring 10.5cm x 28cm. Fold in half to create the card base.
2. Cut a piece of smooth white cardstock measuring 10cm x 13.5cm. Apply the Torn Text Background Stamp using Tree Branch Archival Ink to this piece. Use an ink blending tool to apply Antique Linen Distress Ink to the surface and the edges. Stick down on the card base.
3. On a separate piece of smooth white cardstock, apply the grevillea flower stamps using Red Geranium Archival Ink for the flower part and Leaf Green Archival Ink for the stems. Allow the ink to dry before fussy cutting. Also stamp some leaves using the Leaf Green ink and fussy cut them too. Add all images to the card front using 3D foam under the flowers.

4. Press a Candied Apple Distress Ink pad onto an acrylic block. Use a soft wet paintbrush to pick up the colour and flick over the card front. Repeat using Peeled Paint Distress Ink.
5. Stamp the ‘Love’ circle from the Simply Circles Rubber Stamp Set onto the extra smooth white cardstock using the Tree Branch ink. Punch out using a circle punch. Punch out a slightly larger kraft circle also. Layer the ‘Love’ circle on the kraft one using 3D foam. Add 3D foam to the back of the kraft circle and add to the card. Glue a twine circle around this piece.
6. Stamp some stars from the Stars Rubber Stamp Set on the extra cardstock using the Red Geranium ink. Fussy cut and add to the card front along with some gold sequins.

Here’s another card I created in the same style:

Darkroom Door Stars Rubber Stamp Set
Darkroom Door Simply Circles Rubber Stamp Set

Garden Birds Cards

Darkroom Door - Monday, June 04, 2018
Hi, it's Godelieve Tijskens here today to share more cards using the Garden Birds stamp sets!

Instructions:
I made a square card, size is 15 cm x 15 cm. I started with a thin coat of gesso, let it dry. The bird was stamped with black Archival ink. I used Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks to watercolor the bird, and to add a bit of color to the background.

I masked the bird, and added more color to the background, using the large Circles stencil to sponge with Archival inks. I also stamped the new Swirls texture stamp with these Archival inks. The poppy stems and sentiment were stamped in black. I removed the mask, added shadow below the bird and stems using a brown Scribble Stick. I distressed the edges of the panel with a paper distresser and adhered the piece to a white folded card.

Supplies I used:
Darkroom Door Stamp Sets: Garden Birds, Poppies, Simple Sayings Vol 2
Darkroom Door Texture Stamp: Swirls
Darkroom Door Large Stencil: Circles
Gesso
Archival Inkpads: Jet Black, Leaf Green, Aquamarine
Tonic Paper Distresser

This next project is a quick and easy card. I chose a gel print from my stash. To create this print I had used the Tribal Background Stamp and the large Circles stencil.
I stamped the birds onto the gel print using black Archival Ink, and once again onto white cardstock to cut out. I glued the white birds onto the gel print.

To stamp the sentiment I used the Alphabet Medley set, mixing the large and small letters.
I also stamped the Swirls texture stamp with black Archival ink, holding the stamp in my hand without a stamping block. So I was able to use small parts of the stamp.
A black Micron pen and a white gel pen were used to draw a frame.

Supplies I used:
Darkroom Door Stamp Sets: Garden Birds, Alphabet Medley
Darkroom Door Texture Stamp: Swirls
Darkroom Door Background Stamp: Tribal
Darkroom Door Large Stencil: Circles
Archival Inkpad: Jet Black
Black Micron Pen
White Signo Gel Pen
