Three Collage Squares Cards

Darkroom Door - Saturday, January 14, 2017

Hi there! It's Rachel Greig here today sharing three cards using the Travel Squares, Seaside Squares and Steampunk Squares Collage Stamps. These stamps are so quick and easy to use, as they can be stamped over coloured backgrounds for a quick card or coloured in for more detailed cards. You could also stamp the image and only use a few of the squares, for instance a strip of 3 squares, or a set of 4 to make a square card. Lots of options!

For these cards, I wanted to show how to create some quick cards using the full stamp.

1. Stamp the French Script Texture Stamp onto a folded kraft card base using Archival Jet Black ink. Stamp several times to cover the edges of the card.
2. Stamp the Travel Squares Collage Stamp onto white gloss cardstock using Archival Jet Black ink and allow to dry.
3. Colour stamped image using light colours of Distress Markers.
4. Adhere stamped image to black cardstock, then onto the front of the card with foam adhesive.

Supplies used:
Darkroom Door Travel Squares Collage Stamp
Darkroom Door French Script Texture Stamp
Archival Ink: Jet Black
Distress Markers: Spun Sugar, Squeezed Lemonade, Tumbled Glass, Shabby Shutters
Gloss Cardstock
A5 Kraft Card

1. Create a coloured background using Broken China and Seedless Preserves Distress Inks.
2. Stamp the Seaside Squares Collage Stamp over the background using Archival Cobalt Ink. Distress the edges with a paper distresser.
3. Stamp 'By the sea' from Seaside Vol 1 Rubber Stamp set onto a scrap piece of the background and trim to turn into a banner.
4. Trim a piece of white lace or mesh to fit underneath the banner sentiment and the Seaside Squares stamped image. Adhere the mesh and the sentiment over the image using foam adhesive. Layer the larger piece of mesh underneath the stamped image and adhere to a blue piece of cardstock that is the same size.
5. Adhere entire panel to a folded white card to complete!

Darkroom Door Seaside Vol 1 Rubber Stamp Set
Distress Inks: Broken China, Seedless Preserves
Archival Ink: Cobalt, Jet Black
Paper Distresser
A5 White Linen Cardstock
Mesh

1. Create a background using neutral colours of Alcohol Inks onto white gloss cardstock.
2. Stamp the Steampunk Squares Collage Stamp over the background using Archival Jet Black ink pad and allow to dry. Adhere to black cardstock.
3. Trim Kraft Glassine paper to the same size as the black card front. Crumple the glassine paper to give it lots of creases and texture. This will make the glassine paper slightly smaller in size than the card. Adhere to the front of the card with foam adhesive.
4. Adhere the stamped panel to the front using foam adhesive to finish!

I hope you have enjoyed these ideas! These cards are a great way to use up coloured background pieces that you may already have on hand.

Steampunk Squares Collage Stamp Cards

Darkroom Door - Wednesday, January 04, 2017
Hello arty people! Teresa Abajo here bringing you a couple of samples using the new Steampunk Squares Collage Stamp. This stamp is fantastic for masculine themed cards - and I know we all need more ideas for masculine cards!

Here's my first card:

I stamped the Steampunk Squares Collage stamp using black ink and then embossed it with copper embossing powder. The squares were then coloured with Distress Inks and an Aquash brush, then cut out.

I layered each square onto some ink stained cotton gauze, before adhering them to a background that has been stamped with the Cogs Background stamp and coloured with Distress Spray Stains.

I then finished the card off with some twine, a couple of mini metal cogs, a sentiment from the Brushed Sentiments stamp set and a word from the Steampunk stamp set.

Supplies used:

Darkroom Door Cogs Background Stamp

Distress Inks: Walnut Stain, Mermaid Lagoon, Vintage Photo
Distress Spray Stain: Frayed Burlap, Rusty Hinge
Aquash Brush Medium
Embossing Powder: Lindy's Stamp Gang Midnight Copper
Ink: Versafine Tuxedo Black, Archival Jet Black
Idea-ology Mini Metal Gears

For my second card, I went for a textured mixed media look:

I started by stamping the Gazette Background stamp with black ink onto some tissue paper and adhering torn strips of this onto some cardstock with gesso. Then I applied texture paste through a brick stencil, and when it was dry I stamped the Cogs Collection Eclectic stamp with brown ink and the Postcards Texture stamp with grey ink randomly over the background. To complete the background I sponged the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink, spattered some Gathered Twigs Distress Spray stain and stamped some of the words and the lightglobe from the Steampunk stamp set.

To create the squares, I stamped the Steampunk Squares stamp onto cream cardstock with Archival Coffee ink, cut them out and sponged them with Vintage Photo ink. These were then adhered to the background with one slightly overlapping the other. I then applied Glossy Accents here and there and sprinkled microbeads over the card, and used Glossy Accents again to adhere some Ideaology metal cogs to finish the card off.

Seaside Squares Collage Stamp Cards

Darkroom Door - Sunday, January 01, 2017

Hi, it's Belinda here today to share four cards I have created using the stunning Seaside Squares Collage Stamp. I have to say that the collage style of card is my absolute favourite and I do love the sea so this stamp is just perfect for me.

1. Cut a piece of white cardstock 14.5cm x 21cm and fold in half to form the card base.
2. Cut a piece of smooth white cardstock to 10cm x 14cm. Apply the Fishing Net Background Stamp to this piece using Paradise Teal Archival Ink. Distress the edges and stick down on the card base.
3. Cut another piece of white cardstock measuring 8.5cm x 12.5cm. Apply the Shadow 6 Up Frame Stamp to this piece using the Paradise Teal ink. Distress the edges and stick down on top of the Fishing Net background piece.
4. Apply the Seaside Squares stamp to another piece of smooth white cardstock using the Paradise Teal ink. Cut out each square with a small border around each. Distress the edges of each square and add to the card front using 3D foam.
5. Stamp the Seaside Squares again on another piece of smooth white cardstock using the same ink. Fussy cut the shells and add to the card front using 3D foam.
6. Apply the Seaside Word Block stamp to another piece of white cardstock and cut out the sentiment. Add to the card front with 3D foam. Glue on some sequins. Apply Glossy Accents to the air bubbles on the squares.

1. Cut a piece of white cardstock 14cm x 20.5cm and fold in half to form the card base.
2. Cut a piece of smooth white cardstock 10cm x 14cm. Apply the Fishing Net Background Stamp using Tree Branch Archival Ink Distress the edges and stick down on the card base.
3. Cut another piece of white cardstock measuring 8.5cm x 12.5cm. Apply Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy Distress Inks to a stamp from the Watery Washes Stamp Set. Spritz the stamp with water from a mister bottle and apply the stamp to the bottom of the cardstock. Use a wet paintbrush to blend the colours if required. Apply the spotty stamp from the same set in the same way to create more interest for the background. Also stamp the air bubbles from the Under The Sea Stamp Set using Aquamarine Archival Ink.
4. On a separate piece of smooth white cardstock, stamp the seaweed twice using Aquamarine and Paradise Teal Archival Inks. Add double sided tape to the back of the stamped images before fussy cutting to create instant stickers. Next stamp the seashell using Tree Branch ink and the coral using an combination of Tree Branch and Aquamarine. Stamp the sentiment and the small starfish also. Fussy cut all of these images.
5. Stamp the seahorse from the Under the Sea set using Paradise Teal ink. Fussy cut. Stamp the Seaside Squares on another piece of smooth white cardstock and cut out the seahorse square only. Distress the edges.
6. Now it is time to assemble all of the stamped and fussy cut images on the card front. Use 3D foam under everything except the seaweed to add dimension to the card. Finish by gluing on some white sequins.
